Child star Melonie Watson ('Kathy Gordon') who is thankfully still alive at the age of 48, guest-starred alongside Gary Coleman in a handful of episodes. In real life, she is confined to a wheelchair, as she suffers from Osteogenesis Imperfecta, a disease in which her bones fracture easily. When Bernadette made that cold remark, were the writers referencing "Diff'rent Strokes"?

I don't think I've ever looked for frogs under my butt while I was wearing my Snow White gown.

I'm sure there are several people named Kathy who use wheelchairs. Also Cathy, and Kathie, and others.
