It's all that stupid mom's fault

The part that got me was how Lenore and Kim conspired to convince him to sign that release that allowed her to leave the country. They knew from the start that her trip was to follow U2 around Europe but told him something completely different yet, when he still refused to sign, Lenore turned on him like a jackal and called him every bad thing she could think of as Kim ran off in tears.
That entire trip was based on a stupendous lie and it was faulty thinking that led to Kim having a friend such as Amanda, a mom who didn't see right through what kind of girl Amanda was, and the entire ordeal where Amanda led her into being taken, in the first place.
Neeson's character was the only one who had a practical outlook on the entire situation. Though, he didn't see the outcome coming, he was right about reasons why restraint should have been practiced. He was a bit maniacal but, considering the events that took place, that made him the most level headed person in the entire movie.
I have something to say; It's better to burn out, than to fade away!!! -

It is Lenny's fault, more so than Amanda. I think all teens should go to Europe, but under 18, it should most definitely be with a parent.
I must say, Maggie was 25 when she did that film, but she definitely played a teen well.
Be sure to proof your posts to see if you any words out -

A few other movies seem to have followed this cliche of leading man/father post-divorce trying to help his kids meanwhile demeaningly berated and verbally bashed by b*tchy ex-wife who has picked up a "superior" boyfriend/husband-to-be. Examples: The War of the Worlds (remake), The Weather Man, The Day After Tomorrow, 2012. In many (IMDB) cases male viewers want to "slap" her silly but the guy just sits there and takes it on the chin like a spineless pussy, even if he turns out to have been doing the right thing for his estranged kids. "Taken" seems a classic example. The ex-wife was arrogant and condescending, having landed a rich guy who gives ponies for birthday presents, and ignorant when it came to sending their under-age attractive daughter on a flighty Eurotrip. The mother definitely needed a "slap" or at least a wakeup call, and was kind of lame even when the daughter was returned safely due to Dad's awesome skills. Small hug, now you can get a taxi home.

Stop talking about it like its a real film! ITS NOT! She is not a real character at all. There is nobody on earth like her. And even the few that are annoying biatches, they at least have a back story that makes them how they are. This film just didn't even bother with anything. They introduce this insane kunt of an ex wife with no explanation at all. It was only like 20 minutes in to the film when she says some cliche "your job was more important" or whatever and you realise, oh yeah.. they are doing the over worked male thing. But still, beep, at least give us some kind of reason to believe that.
It's like a school play. A bunch of 12 year olds who want to be in the movie business got together and decided that there needs to be some badass dude who has "military training and beep and is now a "bodyguard for famous singers or whatever" and the wife is "pissed off about him not being around enough or whatever". And they just threw it all together in 10 minutes. What a total piece of crap. Every single part of it was below amateurish. The word amateurish gives such a bad feeling, but actually, at least amateurs have spent some time studying stuff. They have been beginners and gone though all the "beginners guide to moviez" and "how to write a script in 24 hours" and whatnot. Amateurs are least at an amateur standard. Whoever wrote this film was just taking the piss. -

I thought Lenny acted the way she did because she married a rich man and forgot how to act like a real human being. I've seen it more than once. A working person comes into money and now can have anything they want 24 hours a day and people bend over backwards for then, then the first time someone says "No" to them about something they get totally bent out of shape and throw a fit like a toddler. That was Lenny in a nutshell. A spoiled rich beep

Um, yes there are women like her. As a matter of fact, a mother was arrested for killing her teenage daughter on Christmas day. There are all kinds of people in this world. A bitchy ex-wife isn't unheard of. -

Well, the father was being a total idiot Lots of people go to France without being abducted and sold into the sex trade. In fact France on the whole is safer than the US. The fact that he turned out to be right regarding the plot just simply meant that his character apparently knew about the unlikely plot ahead of time. Must have read the ridiculous script, LOL.
Note that there is an international human trafficking trade, but its mostly girls from poor countries that are exploited not tourists from rich countries.
From what I've heard a man is more at risk from the sex trade in Paris. Apparently there's a common scam where a flirtatious lady will invite a man into a back alley bar for a drink, give him a beer, then charge him 600 Euros or even more (typically without even getting sex). I've heard a number of stories about this scam.
RIGOLETTO: I'm denied that common human right, to weep. -

There's more around than sex traffickingand sending your teenage daughter around Europe alone isn't something people should do lightly, especially for someone with a background like his.
I also like how you seem to think that because something is commonly done this way in this country (according to your reliable sources no doubt), that this is the only potential way it could ever be, that nothing will change and of course that teenagers wouldn't be easy pray for the uncommon events that you seem a little vague on admitting actually happen. -

The girls could have avoided it by "being safe". Their naivete (or stupidity) are largely to blame for it.
If they had been much more cautious - as teens are not wont to do - such things wouldn't have happened.
Still, if she had a sensible head on her shoulders, she would have been fine. -

Western Europe is not a dangerous place like this movie makes it out to be. The most dangerous thing likely to happen to you is pickpocketing, or getting lightly beat up/mugged. But you'll only get beat up if you really attempt to, by going to some very shady neighbourhoods in late nights, despite warnings.
Even ex-Soviet countries can be safe, if you have half a brain about safety and common cons.
