I always thought she WAS a blonde, because I never saw her in anything before GoT, and she's stunning as a blonde. Especially with those dark eyebrows. I love the look, the contrast, everything about her is perfect. And maybe I'm unable to separate her from her Danni character, because out of that character she's rather ordinary, whereas as Danni she's quite remarkable!
The reason that blonde pic you posted doesn't look "right" to some of us who prefer blonde is that the shade is wrong for her complexion, and it's too warm and brassy. It needs to be lifted more and have a blue or purple toner (I'm guessing).
If she'd go down right platinum, she'd look great. I usually prefer natural hair colour as well, and admit that given I'm extremely partial to Danni's look on GoT, I might be biased.
