they're great producers, though they don't seem to care too much about consistence (recast and stuff)
they're just not very good writers
Exactly this. The best storylines/dialogues/characters are all ones that stayed closer to the books. Almost all the changes they have made and additions they had added on have been poorly conceived, ham-fisted, and sometimes they even write themselves into corners and and things don't even make sense anymore.

Maybe back then they assumed the Fat man can finish his books in time like all of us did so they had to go their own route. Regardless this show still holds up pretty well.

Most of my problems with the writing were actually in seasons 3-5, when they still had the books to lean onI actually generally liked most of the writing in season 6, although i felt that the "shocker" reveal at the end of each and every episode was a bit convoluted

You make it sound like there's a magic formula of George writing the things on his books and it magically appears on screen.
The adapting is harder than it look or sounds, and that's what D&D are masters of, among other things. Can you even try to imagine handeling something like that and adapting it into a TV show?
Also I think they've done pretty good job on their own, considering S6 was the 2nd best season in my opinion. Also the scripts are top notch.

A pretty good description of Feast and Dance; which is why that "closer to the books is best" argument doesn't really hold up to scrutiny.

it's a very good thing that mcdogger is here to protect D&D's honor on the internet.
they do not care that people say bad things.

Mcdogger is currently blocked so I can't see what he writes. He suffers from turrets syndrome so that's something I couldn't bare to see anymore.. It sad

                      Totally agreed.
Why do you think I exaggerate in this boards so much? Gotta balance. These masterminds deserve a LOT of credit.
And cheers to those who think they can Produce, Write, and Direct better. That is all!

D&D are a couple of idiots, that can't write for beep They were doing a mediocre job, when they still followed the books, but despite having 2 huge books left when starting season 5, they decided to write their own story. This is where it became apparent that they really dont know what they are doing, and just want to get the show over with. One bad decision after another, rewriting characters every episode and the overall amount of stupidity and fanservice are just few examples of their ''talent''. But the dumb plebs who watch the show are too stupid to notice such things, or they go into fanboy mode, and start insulting everyone who criticizes D&D and GOT.

Since you're too "smart" for this show. Why does every show have to be a mind battle for all you nerds for it to be any good? You seem to be the one that criticizes it just as much. And who says "plebs"? Only hipsters do.

No, a show has to be okay at least. If it insults the viewer, then i will insult it back.

Plebs is the accurate word to describe dumb masses.

A huge paragraph of vagueness without a single example of a problem. And you say somebody else writes poorly?

they reduce stark with dire wolf time to make room for giant time and end scenes with a dragon screeching as he flies in front of the camera or other unnecessary CGI stuff
this alone is enough to get mistreated.
yes I believe they can produce and direct better that's why I criticize.
as for writingmeehhh without the books behind it the dumb character moves became even dumber, not to mention the invention of unnecessary love archs in determent of interesting characters who didn't even make the cut or even a small cameo, or changing the background of important characters all togetherbecause apples.
