There were always people willing to perform the operations. Also, anyone who isn't poor can hop on an airplane and get an abortion where it's legal.

Whether abortion is necessary is a separate issue. The reality is that antiabortion laws are only enforceable on the poorest people in society. Forcing these people to have unwanted offspring does nothing for society but increase the crime rate when these unwanted and therefor poorly reared children reach maturity.

That's not entirely true. It will also increase the welfare numbers, further overcrowd the already overcrowded and underfunded public schools in poor areas, and make Rush Limbaugh happy.
I don't want to see any of those things happen. -

They both require two completely different mentalities to obtain. I don't think you can really compare the two. However, as a republican, I tend to be open about social views. I think abortion should be legal because if it isn't people will still get them, but they will be done is worse conditions.
So if anything, I agree with the point people will do things no matter what, so let's regulate it and make it cleaner and better. Kind of like prostitution, people will get them anyways, so let's make it legal to regulate it and prevent STDs. -

As a gun-toting liberal I agree with you.
I don't actually think either of those things should be banned, it's just kind of perplexing to me that a lot of people I see seem to genuinely hold both of these views, despite the obvious contradiction.
Thanks for your input, friend. -

The last time they outlawed abortions, the death rate from back alley abortions sky rocketed and was an epidemic. You know that there are 7.4 billion people on this planet that was meant to sustain half that, right? This is an actual fact, unlike yours.

So is your point that we should outlaw abortions to fix the population problem, or are you just throwing two different stats out there.
I hope that didn't come off as rash, but I just feel like I missed your point!
Let me know! Thanks!
