Missing character in Region 1 version of 'Elena?'

I finished watching my Region 1 megaset for the final time. Having never seen the Region 2, I can't be certain if some episodes have been cut for time.
I noticed a cute little scene in this set that was cut out of PBS's airing: Lynley helps Havers move a refrigerator into her tiny one-room flat. She is embarrassed by some underwear hanging on a drying rack.
But then there is "For the Sake of Elena." At the end of the episode, Lynley laments how messed up the lives were of the people they dealt with in the case. He mentions them by name- One of them is Troughton. THERE WAS NO TROUGHTON in the episode! Yet in the credits, Troughton is listed as being played by such-and-such actor.
This has bugged me for years. All of the characters with speaking parts are accounted for, and then there is this extraneous Troughton in the cast list. It is not a case of a character having a different name in the credits than he had in the film.
Was he cut even from the original Region 2 version? If not, who was he? -

Troughton was a professor that was a sleaze. The one that insinuated he had students throwing himself at him, said "uptight virgins" to Havers and when she was shocked, said, "I can spot one a mile away" referring to her. He also dropped his black silk bathrobe when they said they wanted it as evidence, and stood completely naked in front of Lynley and Havers. (This episode had two instances of naked men - but I much preferred Lynley in the shower!!0

Thanks. You are typing about Thorsson, played by Richard Lintern. Another character called Troughton was played by Will Knightley, father of Keira Knightley. But he never appeared in the Region 1 version. Click over to the Elena title in the episode list, then click on "See full cast." Both men are credited, just as they are on the DVD.
I imagine this is just another case of WGBH cutting the episodes for Americans (damn, that has gotten old!!!) However, it is possible that the character was cut post-filming, even from the real British original. [Unlikely, as his name was left in the credits.] -

Oh, that is weird, because the quotes section attributes those lines to Troughton
Troughton: I'm not stupid! I don't have affairs with my students even when they offer themselves to me, which they do with tedious frequency.
Barbara Havers: [Contemptuously] Poor deluded little beggers!
Troughton: [Nastily] Or uptight little virgins.
[Havers appeared shocked by what he says]
Troughton: I can spot one a mile off!
Which is why I misremembered the smarmy professor as being called Troughton! I knew it was something with a T. Huh, that's really weird! -

Troughton was the older professor who was planning to marry Elena when he found out she was pregnant; remember Lynley's revelation about the fish drawn on Elena's calendar? He stated he wasn't the father and that he was crap as a seducer, but that Elena had seduced him instead.

Neat! There was no fish on a calendar in the discs I owned. (Was it a trout for "Troughton?" Hee hee.) Nor an older professor. At some point, I read two of the books. Of course the TV show has almost nothing to do with the books, so I gave up on them.
Lynley is yet another series that I am going to have to get my hands on at some point in the future to watch all over again in the uncut Region 2 format. Sigh.
Thank you, Snooks! -

I finally got my hands on the authentic, uncut, Region 2 original of series 1!!!
I saw the scenes with Professor Troughton. Another bit cut from that episode was a lovely conversation between Lynley and Helen after the concert. A small portion of this was shown in the Region 1, but it went on for a while in the Region 2. To me, it was much more relevant than the domestic chaos at Pen's house.
