I love the series. I recently got them all on dvd but I'm approaching the end of series 5. I feel like I'm losing a good friend.
Any recommendations of other good British series (hopefully on dvd)???

I was asking a friend about recommendations too. They said to get US Law and Order- Criminal Intent. I often watch but the main characters never talk about their own lives and have zero chemistry together. I think that makes Havers and Lynley so much more human. Someone write some heart-wrenching personal story-lines into Criminal Intent please. They are zombies..
It's odd because there's a lot of personal tension in Law & Order Special Victims Unit.

I'm on the last episode tonight! I am seriously going to miss the show, too! On the "special" section of the dvd Elizabeth George is interviewed and she encourages fans to read to rest of the series to see what happens to Lynley and Havers. She didn't suggest anything, but kind of had a twinkle in her eye.
Other favorite British mystery series that I liked:
        Crackers
        Sherlock Holmes -with Jeremy Brett
        Miss Marple
        Inspector Morse
        Lovejoy
        Poirot
        Doc Martin
