"Chance Phelps was a murderer like all soldiers in war. I see no special point honoring his actions or death in a pointless war."
Jameson, this is truly one of the most stupid statements, as well as vile, as I've ever come across. Shame on you.

I question whether or not you have a brain or a soul. If you do, at the very least, you have absolutely no concept of how the military works. You might want to read up on these things so you don't sound like an idiot in conversation.

j.jameson: How dare you compare Chance Phelps to a murderer or all soldiers in war. I have a family member whom died in war and believe me he was a truly wonderful man. And, though our family greatly morned his death we were proud that he gave his life for what he believed in. Both my Grandfathers, my Husband, and stepson also were in wars. Not because they wanted to "murder" but because they believed in this country and were willing to fight for it. These were and are good menmen who take care of their familys and contribute to their communities. When we were attacked at Pearl Harbor or on 9/11were those not times when our country needed to take action? On Iraq I have some mixed feelings-truthfully, really not sure it was the right thing to do. But, regardless of my or anyone elses misgivings, our men and women over their deserve our support and when they lose their lives must have our gratitude and respect. And, what comfort this must give to their familiesto know their loved ones were treated as such.
"Rambo"? Give me a breakwhat are you 12 years old? -

wow. you obviously have no idea how stupid you sound. truth be told, i'm proud to claim the title of US Marine. i'm proud that i protect my family. i'm proud that i'm protecting my country. i'd gladly give my life for their defense. hell, i'm proud that i'm a firefighter.
pointless? since we're talking about a film that is about a Marine who gives his life in Iraq, i'll keep to that. bringing to justice a man who ordered the execution of hundreds of his own citizens makes this completely pointless? you have no idea what we do.
while i may not agree with what you're saying, i'll fight to the death your right to say it -

I am a far left liberal pacifist who despises war.
I think that war is stupid, pointless, and never ever worth the price.
But you, J-Jameson, take the cake as being an ignorant fool.
I don't give a crap about your views on war, or anything. NEVER EVER dis-respect soldiers and the service that they do.
If it weren't for them, if you live in the states, then we wouldn't be where we are today.
this movie made me cry. very powerful powerful film.

I really don't understand those people who say this is propaganda. It is about showing respect for someone who has fallen. No political speech, nobody claims the war is good. People with good heart just want to honor a fallen man regardless politics or whatever.
This film doesn't glorify death or dying for the country. Nobody is happy to see a young man dead but everybody realise that he deserves all the honor and the respect. Chance Phelps died fighting an enemy that indeed glorifies death.
All along history -in all societies- the soldiers fallen have been honored and their families too. This film is also a tribute to all of them. I'm not American but this film makes me love the United States and the American people.
Thankyou very much for this comment. Btw, totally agree with you. -

I have been against this war since before it began, and this movie did not change my mind about that (nor did it intend to). But it did make me think more highly of the Marine Corps. I wonder why George W. did not think it would be valuable for those of us who are safely at home to see the respect with which our armed forces treat their, and also our, dead. It is a valuable and touching movie for that alone.
