Ok my next question is then how would the game know the time of year and to go into winter mode if playing offline? Sorry if it's an obvious answer, but I have zero knowledge about games.

You choose your hemisphere in game and your switch has the date and time so it goes by that.
You can actually time travel by changing the date and time if you want lol.

I'm thinking of getting this one. The price will look high to you because it's in Canadian $$. I'm not sure if I should shop around or just go ahead and get it now.
