They weren't even zombies to begin with. They were infected with a rage virus. They were alive. They would kill and infect.I don't think they eat people. Zombies are walking dead people infected with a zombie virus. Zombies only eat living people.

well, they were never zombies in the traditional movie depiction sense…they were infected with a "rage" virus…having them mutate over time isn't that strange of a direction to go in…it is kind of odd when the original film's lore established that they would all just starve eventually…then again the infection was pretty well localized to the British aisles, maybe it had a better opportunity for evolving once it went global. In any case I haven't actually seen this film and after a nearly 20 year hiatus between the last one (and a general jadedness around modern films) I have just lost interest in doing so.

I'm not sure how they're going to work Cillian Murphy back into the story. He just seems too gifted and nuanced an actor for them to go from the end of movie 3 back to him again.

Agreed. It was baaaad. Really bad.I couldn't believe how bad it was.
The opening kinda set the tone. It was very anticlimactic. There was nothing scary or terrifying about watching an entire family get devoured and that was a sign of things to come. The violence in this movie wasn't scary or impactful. It was goofy and comical. The infected were picked off rather easily. The Aplhas cartoonishy ripped people's heads off with ease. No tension at all.
And don't get me started with that ending. People in track suits doing kung fu? Modeled after some British DJ? What. The. Fuck?
Really stupid movie. -

Modeled after some British DJ?
Yeah he is not really known for being a DJ anymore but I get what you mean sailor lol I just about understand what Garland is probably going for with the Jimmy Saville thing, and I think he should not have done it but it's too late nao lol.
I thought the alpha was simply just a large dude who had recently become infect before i saw the film, but I was so wrong. There is no way a blood infection can turn a man that jacked, these infected dont exactly eat a body builder diet or work out 24/7, they dont even ****oing SLEEP and sleeping is one of the most important things when it comes to building mass, so how? how the **** did that happen?
Garland has admitted he loves The Last of us TV show (
) and video game(
), so he clearly wanted his own version of " special infected "
The only part of the film I enjoyed fully was when they first meet Kelson, and spike is like " I am Spike, this is me mam….and this is a baby "
That got me chuckling and was the best part of the film lol
And the infected now being able to breed has harrowing indications….how many little newborn babies are going to get tore open right after birth? either by the mother, father or any infected nearby.
Thats just ****ed.
And why the **** does the Alpha care so much about getting his kid back? he is a 9 foot rage m onster he aint nursing that thing or bottle feeding it what the actual **** it makes no sense unless he wants to eat it?
I was also annoyed at first why Kelson did not kill Samson ( the alpha ) after drugging him, then someone mentioned the fact that he used to be an NHS doctor, he does not see them as monsters he sees them as sick people, and that does make a bit of sense to be honest, probably the movies best bit of unspoken character dev! -

Not killing Alpha is moronic. That person is stupid. No one is making an effort to repeatedly not kill a raging rabid human who is trying to kill them. The doctor would not survive. It's not believe he could survive in that world.
