I thought so! I posted this question back when the pilot aired, so I'm glad you noticed this, too. Is it the same music, or just really similar? It's been such a long time since I've watched Scarface

yes there is no question parts of this season's soundtrack are very similar to Scarface's soundtrack.

          Giorgio Moroder
composed the scores for both Scarface and Queen of the South. But honestly, I didn't hear that much of a similarity.

The slow, pulsing chords were present in both (don't know how to better describe it); they had similar timing and transitions. To my ear, I noticed the similarities between the two right from the pilot, but I couldn't find any info back then to confirm that they had the same composer. Pretty cool to have this confirmed. Thank you.

I just finished watching the episode. There were scenes where the music was very similar. There were also scenes where it was literally the same music. The music in Scarface where Tony told Michelle Pfeiffer's character that he just killed Frank and is looking at the goodyear blimp is the same song as the last scene where they're looking at the surveillance photos.

Maybe if I listened to the Scarface and QotS themes back to back, I could hear the similarity. Youtube has lots of Scarface clips, but all of the QotS uploads that I found had altered the sound component to avoid getting pulled. Thus, everything including the music sounded too chipmunk-y to be used for comparison.

Yeah, I see what you mean! I found the QotS pilot on YouTube, and although the audio has been altered (slooowed dooown), you can perhaps hear the similarities between its score and Scarface's. They aren't identical by any stretch, but when the QotS pilot aired, I immediately thought, "Scarface!"
                  QotS (start at 36:57):
                  Scarface:
