spoilers for some
With Jane Lynch leaving it really hurt the show, but that wouldn't have saved it at all I think. After watching it a second time it's pretty apparent that what the second season lacks is that Henry-Casey connection. You have all this chemistry and flirtation in the first season and it's beautiful. BUT then it all ends in that typical season finale cliffhanger fashion and now here's season two with these same two people pretending they don't need each other the rest of the time. So here we are without Jane's brilliant humor, the two love birds, and Ron's straight-man routine. Season two was just a downer to me without that working formula that originally made it great.

Jane Lynch was awesome, as she always is, but I find that she wasn't really a vital character and that her leaving early on like she did really didn't hurt the show if it'd kept going on into more seasons, I wonder if they would have gotten into the habit of always having a new "Jane". Megan was pretty great, although there was nothing about her I found particularly interesting.

Nah. She was funny, but I think that Bobbie St. Brown was easily the funniest character the show had, and she was only on for two episodes Yet I still think the show was perfectly fine and hilarious without the two of them. I don't think Megan is AS funny, but season two was still top-notch comedy.
There is another reason to fill your heart with hatred.
