I've heard the Chappelle bit about how weed affects white people differently and I'm not at all familiar with coke or ecstasy but it seems that when people got high on this show it was over the top and unrealistic. The white dude in the finale was hallucinating after eating pot cookies? If he really ate that many he would simply fall asleep I like how he came up with his masterpiece but the rest of his experience didn't seem to fit what weed does to people. It was similar earlier on when Ron got high and others on pot Is this just a white people thing or bad acting or is it just a means to an end?
Also, to address why I put "alcohol" in the Subject line: I thought it was odd when Ron downed a bottle and instantly became drunken. Does it really happen that fast? I don't drink to debauchery but I thought it had to work in your system a bit

While I can't admit to ever having been as high as Roman, I will state that when I've watched Party Down with my friends in the past, one of the things we've loved so much is how well they portray the various inebriated states. Most of them are very very close to what they should be, in particular Adam Scott on weed and ecstasy. Jennifer Coolidge on shrooms was also very good.

I thought the bathroom scene with Jane Lynch, Adam Scott, and the white old guy who guest appeared on Veronica Mars was realistic.
Everything else was a bit over the top imo. I thought Jennifer Coolidge was FUNNY but it wasn't realistic. Casey on E was decent but quickly became over-the-top. -

I thought Roman's reaction, being his first exposure to THC, was fairly realistic.
He wasn't 'hallucinating' so much as his imagination running wild, which happens quite often when totally blazed.

I've seen people freak out on bhung (a local drink made with low-end marijuana and milk). So a cookie with high-grade marijuana could blow your mind. Not that it is commonin fact it happens quite rarely but it still happens.
Most of the drunk and/or drugged out states seemed a bit exaggerated but weren't unrealistic. Ron downing a whole bottle of whiskey would definitely imbalance your entire bodyRon didn't seem mentally drunk but physically anyone would be fvcked after that. -

Alcohol isn't instantaneous, but that much can put you down in a minute or so. He also appeared to be drunk before he got on the stage, if I remember correctly, so it was pretty spot on for me.
As for the weed part, a lot of first time smokers get like that. Back in high school my friends and I had one girl freaking out thinking the walls were going to sprout legs and crush her to death. She nearly threw a speaker through the window in an attempt to escape before we calmed her down. Another girl was setting her fake fingernails on fire for reasons which were never revealed to us. Sounds way over the top for weed, but I have countless stories of similar things happening. -

what are you talking about, white people don't know what its like to be on drugs?! take a seat racist, have you ever done drugs? Adam Scott in the seniors singles episode smoking a joint with Ed Begley Jr and Constance in the mens bathroom seemed pretty authentic to me. Scott looked high as sh** and the way he spoke slowly and lost track of what he wanted to say seemed completely authentic to me.
Ron overreacted but still was acting somewhat reasonable, and it is reasonable to think he would overreact because of his whole staying clean and sober thing, he doesnt use drugs in his day to day life, so when he smokes at the funeral home and gets a contact high from Dro-Brizzle in the sweet 16 episode, its still believable -

Uhhh stereotypically, white people do crazy drugs even sniffing aerosol cans and going so far as creating poisons in labs to get high on but I didn't mention any of that 'cause that would be racist. -

As many have said, Adam Scott's portrayal of being high on pot and ecstacy were spot on. Pretty much these actors all seem to have good experience with the actual drugs. As far as Roman in the last episode, it was more paranoia and an inability to control his thoughts. And at the HS reunion it is pretty clear that Ron has already been drinking when he grabs the bottle from behind the bar. If you pound straight liquour it really only takes a matter of minutes to be affected. I suspect due to the time constraints of a TV show there is a degree of license allowed here to expedite the punch line. And Jennifer Coolidge's portrayal of a mushroom trip is pretty much nails too, particularly the whole "I just wanted to know what it would be like over here" scene. That is my experience w/ mushrooms.

different strains of marijuana have different effects and different people will be affected differently, NOT because of their race but just due to different body chemistry. Chapelle's bit on that was funny but not meant to be taken as science.
I've had minor hallucinations from eating weed, nothing close to LSD or mushroom hallucinations but definitely some trippy beep
i think adam scott acts high perfectly Roman's experience wasn't that big of a stretch, and this is a comedy show, some license can be expected
