The connection between dragons and their riders

One thing that confuses me about this show is the emotional connection between rider and dragon.
Vaegar was daemon’s wife’s dragon but before that, apparently it was his mother’s or something. And maeles was his fathers, i think. Idk I’ve never read the books but the point is, one killing the other should’ve elicited a profound emotional response in Daemon. It’s akin to family members killing one another, and I mean family he cares about.
But apparently not. It’s just whatever.
I just think the show would be a little better if it gave us scenes illustrating the emotional bond between the dragons and targs. Also sunrider getting killed was kinda sad. Like a puppy dying. Think how much more impactful it’d be if we had more scenes of Aegon and Sunrider bonding. You’d cry and kill yourself.
