Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Joker: Folie à Deux

    ∂³∑x² — 1 year ago(October 04, 2024 04:08 PM)

In a gargantuan display of regret for his prior film's success, the hungover director Todd Phillips tries to make up to the Hollywood inner circle by claiming that he was drunk and the success of Joker was an outright mistake brought on by booze and him not knowing what he was doing.
With his carefully gracious act of doing the dishes, taking out the trash and finally stopping that squeak on the door Phillips drives home the fact that it was the audience misconceiving the state of aloofness intended in his earlier movie and promises that it was just one time and he won't do it again.
But this is his first time being caught having fun and he doesn't know that Lady Columbia will never let him live it down. Rather than make the brash move to hit the pub with the boys and make good on his character of before he'll shrivel up and hide away from his friends and never quite be the man he once was, if only just for that moment. Todd has been gelded and he joins the alumni of James McTeigue, Paul Brickman, Mathieu Kassovitz, Neill Blomkamp and Michael Cimino (Special shout out to Jean-Pierre Jeunet) as directors who somehow said too much without really saying anything.
Roll on AI so we can be rid of these wet farts wasting people's time and money.
