Isabelle was 12 years old when she was cast in the role of Esther. She had quite a number of drama classes under her belt. She comes across as pretty mature for a 12 year old actress. A lot depends on how the role is handled by the director.
People who are not in the film industry have no clue about how a scene is prepared for, hor a character is managed and how that actor is directed. A lot of times, it's the function of the film editor to manipulate the rushes in such a way that a story is told .. films are made in segments .. usually out of sequence.. later they are edited into sequences it is the film editor who actually makes the final film you see.
