Is this a true story?

The OP posted (jokingly I assume) asking if this was a true story.
Some of the responses seemed actually sincere, so I thought they were maybe referencing the "there was an apocalypse outside" kidnapping element. I then asked for a link/reference (for a kidnapping story, not an alien invasion) and joked that I assumed we were talking about the kidnapping thing being based on a true story.
I was responding to this: "It's BASED on a true story. It actually happened in Idaho, and it was 3 guys, which made the sexual tension VERY high."
I know that the other poster's comment about 1938 refers to the War of the Worlds broadcast. -

As I watched 10 Cloverfield Lane, there were SO MANY elements that kept reminding me of the ancient French folktale, Bluebeard. I haven't found anyone else who has had the same response, but there are way too many references for the writers to not have loosely based Cloverfield on the story of Bluebeard. It's astounding that no one has noticed.

As I watched 10 Cloverfield Lane, there were SO MANY elements that kept reminding me of the ancient French folktale, Bluebeard.
The movie made me think mostly of two more recent (and very different) stories about women who are held captive by someone who claims a cataclysmic event has occurred.- Unbreakable Kimmy SchmidtKimmy is kept in a bunker by a man who claims that doomsday has come.
- Saving Grace(trailer:
) A woman wakes up in a locked room where a man claims that an attack has wiped out the city and that he has saved her life. He tells her it isn't safe to leave. Did the attack really happen, or is he a sicko who has kidnapped her?
There are, of course, way too many real-life stories about men who kidnap women and hold them captive.

The similarities were down to minute details. Once, the realization of the similarities hit me, I knew exactly how the story would play out. Not even a surprise with the end because it fell in line with Bluebeard story ending, a complete switch.

Having just watched a bluebeard cartoon on youtube, I dont see any similarities at all, except John Goodman has a beard and there is a door she is forbidden to unlock. Sorry just dont think it was a source of inspiration.
