When will Jess in the film the Triangle successfully save herself and her son? So far everything was caused by the crash, what if she were to stay at home and not do anything to do with driving or a yacht?
When will Jess in the horror film Triangle successfully save herself and her son? So far everything was caused by the crash, what if she were to stay at home and not do anything to do with driving or a yacht?
You of course know that she as well as her son are both dead, right? The taxi driver is the ferryman* who takes her to the other side. However, she didn’t pay him. Thus, she’s stuck with the Sisyphus task for all eternity as a punishment for cheating the ferryman, symbolized by the everlasting loop.
C’mon, pay attention to the movie’s dialogue! This is literally spoonfeeding of Greek mythology..
Her son is in his own afterlife, and none of her friends are even real in the movie.
As for getting out? Sure, just pay the taxi driver/ferryman and he’ll 100% get her to her final destination. But it seems like she goes into amnesia after he gives her the ride, every single time. This has clearly happened several times already before the movie starts, and there’s no end to the loop in sight.
Adding to that, we have absolutely no idea where the loop actually starts, as there are several cues pointing in different directions. When she gets off the boat and goes home, she’s still in the loop; observing herself and even killing her double self.. So tell me, where does it really start??
Also, the crash already happened. She’s in no position to change the past. What’s done is done. On top of that; yeah she’s cute, a deliberate casting choice in order for you to empathize with her, but she’s a despicable child abuser which was in fact what caused the crash in the first place.. And perhaps maybe she actually deserves this?
I’ll let you ponder that..
Great movie, btw. A thinking person’s horror movie.
EDIT
*the ferryman is identical to the Grim Reaper in Greek mythology; he doesn’t judge the people he guides to the other side, as that’s not his job, he’s even friendly; “I’m just your taxi driver”. But here, in the guise of the taxi driver, he clearly says “I’ll leave the meter running, you’ll be back right?” Uhm, no.. Thus, she’s cheating death. And that doesn’t end well.
Also, since this question prompted me to rewatch the movie last night.. You can definitely question whether she actually goes into amnesia or accepts her fate at the end..
I paid attention to this, where did the woman who was on the yacht disappear to? They said she went overboard but Im not convinced and think she’s alive.
That one seemed a bit strange, because we don’t get an answer to what happened to her.
How do we make this question trend?
There is no answers for it online and its questions aee mostly about Jess and her Autistic son…..

I think she retains her memory until she falls asleep on the sail boat. At that point everything thus far becomes like a dream she awakes from, having only glimpses left in her memories which she feels in the form of deja vu. As for Heather, the other woman who never makes it to the cruise ship, her identity and significance is very mysterious…maybe more familiarity with the myths of Aeolus & Sisyphus would shed light on her potential role…but I thin there must be more there as far as her character is concerned. In my opinion she summons the storm and the cruise ship, her presence is too deliberate to not hold significance and that's all I can think of, though admittedly I don't know why.
