Am I the only one who thinks this movie was heavily influenced by the 2007 Spanish film Timecrimes? Even the masks look very similar. Okay, Timecrimes has a different story line, but it's more logical than this was, also it was made on a very low budget, but I think it's way better than this.

This is covered in the FAQ.
      Triangle
      was already in production when
      Timecrimes
was released, and as you imply they not only have completely different plots, but they even belong to different "time-travel" sub-genres (
      Triangle
is really about time loops rather than actual time travel and was inspired by the legend of Sisyphus, whereas
      Timecrimes
is a "proper" time travel film, with an actual, working, time machine).
It's interesting that you say "Even the masks look very similar." A few people have claimed this, but in fact
there is no mask at all
      in
      Timecrimes
: Hctor is clearly shown wrapping a bloody bandage around is head. (Personally, I always wondered if this was a reference to
      The invisible Man
      )

Christopher Smith has stated that the sackcloth mask in
      Triangle
      is a deliberate reference to
      Friday the 13th Part 2
      .

Triangle is not a time travel movie. It is a damnation movie. Triangle is the superior film as all its loop nest logically. It is when you stop thinking of it a time travel movie that the true story unveils itself.
