I'm wondering if a book has such a story?

It's absolutely spellbinding that words might not do it justice. There should be no doubt about how meaningful worded texts can reach out to the human mind, but can this be replicated in words?

Christopher Priest
did such a novel
I discovered him because he wrote the original story upon which
The Prestige (2006)
was based.
The three of his stories I've read have a dream-like quality to them

Surely meaningful worded texts are already written in words - is further replication really needed?
But seriously, I know what you mean and I agree it would be very difficult to convey this story accurately (as depicted in the movie), as a novel.
Perhaps writing it as viewed by a third party would be the only way for the story to make any sense.
