First, the actress playing the mayor was not believable.
Where did they find her?
Second, she threatens Nick, "What I should do is fire you."
This is after he failed to murder Clyde, as she told him.
So she threatens to fire him for not murdering someonenot gonna fly.
Nick's wife repeatedly berates him for doing his best in his career and
providing for his family,
instead of skipping his little work thing and going to all his daughter's recitals.
Was this movie made in 1999?
I thought we were past that.
If she wanted a stay-at-home husband
and a full-time dad,
maybe she should learn to recognize the man
she's dating is an aspiring Distract Attorney
before things get serious.
Maybe she should show a little gratitude
instead of rolling her eyes at him and frowning at him
while he's off paying for your 4" egg-crate memory-foam mattress topper. -

Its like a requirement in movies like this that they make the significant others completely unbearable. Just like any detective movie/tv show. Anytime they get called away from the family picnic the wife loses her mind over it, completely oblivious to the fact that its a job requirement that was known beforehand.

There is a middle between stay at home dad and a person never home. Yes, maybe she should have been more gracious for his services, but then why did Nick even marry and have a daughter if he was never going to be home to spend time with them? Sounds like he should have stayed single if his career was the only thing that matter to him.
