I don't think the creeper part really fit in with the rest of it and Mark Ruffalo's character was too much of an obvious Trump.

I feel they could have built on the Creeper aspect a bit more, that's part of the expanded element I think was either required or will have the audience provide the details for through discussion. Some kids telling scary stories around a lunch table or some of that television entertainment having more of a mention of things being blamed on the mystical Creeper would give it good scapegoat or gremlin reason for being.
Ruffalo really was a campy pantomime villain. Not quite Gary Oldman in The Fifth Element but certainly a good parody of a bad guy in a classic Anime type movie. If people saw Trump before they saw Doctor Onishi (From Akira) or Donquixote Doflamingo (From One Piece) then that's on them.
I don't know what people were expecting, but I didn't have any ideas as to how it would go and caught the 'woke' observations which delayed me in seeing it. I personally don't think that they understand Eastern stories too much if all they saw was the West drenched in it. But that could have been the point

Between the vocabulary, tone of voice, the red hats, and Ruffalo's personal beliefs it really doesn't leave much doubt about what he's doing.

          I'd say thinking like that diminishes Toni Collette's part to something less than what I thought it was;
a Lady MacBeth version of Michelle Obama
          .
Unless you think Melania is all about the sauce

She had a different character and played it the way she/the director wanted to. They don't have to both use the same source for inspiration just because the characters are married.

              Perhaps.
Had Trump never been POTUS you'd perhaps see Ruffalo's performance differently too

He probably would have played it differently too.

I'd like to think that he'd play it whoever the director states he should play it Uncreative
                  That's his job
Unless you are saying that he wouldn't take direction from a Korean?

Some directors give their actors more freedom than others and some actors get to go their own way with their characters. I highly doubt anyone besides Johnny Depp originally thought it was going to be a good idea to have a pirate based on Keith Richards.
Bong Joon Ho says he didn't write it as a Trump parody. Mark Ruffalo heavily implies that he chose to pay it like one anyway. [Giveaway]

I'd like to see where you thought he heavily implies that he's play it like Trump as you must be mistaking him with
this Mark Ruffalo who is begging for Trump's administration to stop AI improving Hollywood
                      .
Easy mistake to make, one looks like a living, breathing person and the other looks like that thing Disney owns from The Avengers franchise. I'm sure Mr Ruffalo thought he was signing up for a Ray Harryhausen production when he took the Marvel money

The movie was filmed back in 2022 so one thing is completely disconnected from the other.
Here he is making a not so subtle confession on the Tonight Show

                          Interesting
So Mark Ruffalo, a male feminist, is hanging out talking about his work with a proven misogynist, Jimmy Fallon, and playing it for laughs
I guess it's settled then. He was trying to be Trump and he really doesn't want people in Hollywood any more
