I agree with the OP. Who cares it is a Sci-Fi movie. Certainly not the catalyst for having a serious discussion about Global Warming. Hollywood uses Global warming now for the same reason Hollywood used the Atomic bomb and its after effects when they made movies about Giant insects and Lizards, or Space Travel, to create danger. Who cares. No one certainly is not going to debate the rights and wrong and the legitimacy that some astronaut or satellite brought back a virus from space and it is now threatening the world like the Andromeda Strain, Contagion or Mimic?
I am not even sure where the Zombies are coming from but they use to come from Witch doctors in older movies and from outer space. Oh and we must not forget the Pea Pods from space taking our bodies over like in The Invasion of the Body Snatchers or the killer Meteors that can wipe out the planet. Well I guess that can happen but they used that to scare us a lot a few years back.
I believe The Blob and the book, not the movie Frankenstein were all about things getting frozen so they will never bother us again. I guess they forgot to thaw them out. And The Thing is still up there. So can anybody take the premise of these movies seriously? The movie is entertaining and that is good enough for me. This is not a documentary.

Simple fact is, the Earth has cooling and warming cycles that occur whether humans are here or not.
Except that thanks to humanity the temperature is increasing faster than the regular cycle and prematurely that is.
If global warming is this "big scam" then by whom? Governments sure as hell don't try to cut back on fossil fuels and green energy isn't exactly being promoted so who is buying "99.999%" of the scientists? Sure has to be someone with lots of money like oil companies But why would oil companies shoot themselves in the foot?

Wait, what? Government is behind all this climate change stuff?
Then why isn't government forcing us to use green power but instead it's promoting fossil fuels? Seems kind of a big contradiction to me Who's getting richer of this 'scam' then? Last time I checked oil companies are doing just fine and are ever increasing their profit so it's all not very intuitive.
Also: yes it happened before but never at this rate and according to the cycle that you agree exists we should in fact be nearing an ice age, not a time of global warming.
There's also no sense in claiming we can't change the climate as we sure can. Gasses in the upper layer of the atmosphere sure as hell can trap warmth (read about Venus for a change) and we can sure as hell increase the quantity of said gasses.

I didn't mind it so much, it had a pretty good atmosphere for a horror movie, I was a little unsettled before I even saw the bugs. However, it felt like the global warming stuff was hamfisted into the flick. I think any other set up would have sufficed.
On my personal scale of movie quality, I'm glad that I watched it but I doubt I will ever want to watch it again.

This was a good film. Not great but I enjoyed it. The global warming stuff felt so out of date, and it really wasn't necessary to trying make a 'burning issue of the day that feels so out of date crap four years on. It really should not have been part of the movie.

funny to see people who think that global warming is a scam.

They mentioned it a whole 3 times in the movie. Get my fainting couch.

I thought the global warming angle was nicely woven into the premise.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.

The movie was OK but they were such a bunch of unlikeable characters that I couldn't feel much empathy for them.
