I think her performance was very poor! After rewatching the first movie, i noticed how bad Danielle Harris was in this. I mean she overacts in every scene, which was freaking unbelievable. She didnt captured the character, cause the Marybeth she played here isnt any similar to the one i saw in the first Hatchet. I m not saying she is really a bad actress, cause i havent seen her in any othr movie(yeah i havent seen H2) but her performance here was beyond poor in my opinion.

Was it a purposely done (supposed to be campy/cheesy) bad performance or just bad?
I only ask because I saw the first Hatchet and it was obviously campy/B-movie-ish and this one appears to be along the same lines. -

K, I had to watch it, and was it just me, or was she trying to sound Cajun or something
That's really all I had an issue w/ - just seemed like a bad accent that f'd everything up. Well, o.k., and the fact that she was the only one in the film that really had to show any crazy emotions just made the contrast between scenes/characters seem a little 'off'. I don't know if that was Adam Green's sense of humor or what. I mean, he obviously has one, and I wonder if having her be the only SERIOUS character in the middle of a bunch of goofballs was some sort of funny thing to him; like a stab at overacting heroine's of the 80's perhaps?
She actually showed some genuine/well done emotion in a particular scene in Halloween 2, so it's not like she can't do it so I don't know what to make of it. -

Her accent was off and on and her acting was way too melodramatic, meaning she overdid it to compensate.

Danielle Harris wasn't even the "lead" in Halloween 4 or 5 as that was Donald Pleasance clearly lol. Ellie Cornell stole the show in H4 and GAG Wendy Kaplan seemed to be onscreen as much or more than Danielle in H5

She was different, but that doesn't mean she was bad. I think the director should've had her drop the fake accent to be honest because you could tell it wasn't real. But the acting itself was pretty good. She doesn't look or sound very much like the girl who played Marybeth in the first movie so it's quite a change if you watch the two films back to back, but once you get used to it, her performance isn't that bad besides the accent.
I've been waiting for you, Ben. -

Not her best performance, that's for sure. But in all fairness, this movie didn't have much going for it aside from buckets of blood and a bounty of female nudity. I think she sort of walked through the part. I at least enjoyed her presence even if the acting wasn't quite up to snuff.
