Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Hatchet II

I cant believe Adam Green made this. The first hatchet and frozen were both excellent but this film seemed very forced. The lead actress was painfully bad to.

I don't think it was awful, in fact I did actually like it.. but compared to the first it was not very good. It really did seem pretty forced, and I don't think it was really her acting that was bad.. but the way they decided to make her character. Sure, she saw her family dead in the first one, but she was never really whiny in the first one.. this one she was almost the entire time. Also, hearing "I don't UNDERSTAND!!" every 3 seconds in the first third of the movie was very annoying.

This was a slight step back for Adam Green IMO as well,
        Hatchet
        was fun,
        Frozen
        was intense and
        Spiral
        was brilliant
Granted, there are MUCH MUCH WORSE slashers out there and this movie was tons of fun in kill & gore dept and I'd sooner rewatch Hatchet II over several Friday the 13th sequelsbut it was definitely an inferior sequel.
Maybe my expectations were through the roof?

Hatchet is way better than Hatchet 2 in almost every area, but I still kinda enjoyed the sequel.

Agreed fully, Spiral WAS brilliant. Frozen was good, but I really didn't care for either Hatchet that much:
            Hatchet I 5/10
            Hatchet II 4/10

I agree Hatchet 1 was alot more fun, this lacked alot of the fun of the original and the original chick who played Marybeth was much hotter as well. But I didn't think this actress was that bad in this, I thought she was ok but I didn't care for her as much.
