Oh I get it, okay thanks for helping me understand. I agree I think that's what he meant. Personally I've always felt like british film is more about the feel then the production company or director. Although there is BBC films, other films I feel classify as british film. I guess I'm wrong in this but I just feel like it makes more sense.
Have a good new year. 🙂

well i watched GOSFORD PARK.. although i liked it. it was beautifully executed but at places i felt it carried too much style with it. i mean i cud hardly ssee any characters growing. and the ending was nothing too exciting.

Carnage - Has the humor and good performances from a stellar cast.

although i dont really understand why the movies as loud as August Osage County have to be tagged as Comedy i mean dark humor is still okay..
Still, i would try Carnage.. thanks

THE MUSIC LOVERS is like being a fly on the wall..Outradeou, intimate, ironic and funny, equally horrifying with the greatest music , camera work and design .What Glenda Jackson does here is not to be believed.Might be Ken Russell most personal masterpiece.

This is where I leave you
                  (2014).
I was surprised to see them releasing this movie in the same year as AOC; it has similar themes of bereavement and the mourning bringing a family together to implode in a similar fashion.

Interiors, not quite as humorous, but still similar without the histrionics.

                          (Gerard Butler & Emmy Rossum)
I only watch these when I'm in the need of a very cathartic of afternoon of sobbing in the shower.
I haven't decided whether or not to watch "If I Stay." Even the preview made me cry, so I don't think I will.

I found it very similar to John Cassavete's A Woman Under he Influence (1974) it almost feels like Cassavetes directed himself..
It has the same kind of thick family drama with the same kind of acting.

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, without a doubt.
Dysfunctional family with secrets, intense performances, superb acting and dialogue. They both take place in mostly one setting, which I love because it makes it claustrophobic and ramps up the tension.
I think there is a lot of Tennessee Williams in August: Osage Country. I wasn't surprised to learn that the playwright was inspired by his works.

^^I second this. A 'must see', but not a lot of dark humor.
