Beverly is originally a sir name, then was a boy's name, and is now mostly a girl's name. This is a common pattern for many girl's names: Tracy, Stacy, Ashley, Evelyn, etc all originated as sir names, which became popular boy's names. WASPs often give their boys family names as a way to pass on blue blood names, historically.

Now, it is a woman's name, but in the past it was just a name.
Families who felt names were very important and named kids a certain way, may have given a surname as a child's first name. So the boy was named Beverly, which was perhaps his mother's maiden name.
Jessica Simpson named her daughter Maxwell!

Yep, originally a boy's name. "Whitney" was also originally a boy's name too. Nowadays, you'd be hard-pressed to find a man named Whitney.
Sister, when I've raised hell, you'll know it!

Another stupid point of this film.
No need to have a woman's name for a guy here, just confuses some folks.

There's lots of names like that. Dana, Keegan, Alex, Chrisit's annoying to me, too. I intensely dislike unisex names.

Most names that aren't flowery and frilly started out as boys names. Karen, Aaron/Erin, Shannon, Carey, Casey, Jean, Jessie, Mackenzie, etc. In my opinion it doesn't matter. Names are all made up at some point. They don't have genitals they're just sounds we make up.

I have an uncle named Lavern, John Wayne's real name was Marion. I had a friend named Kim (male) when I was a kid. Heck, if you can name your kid North, Blue, River or Leif then what's wrong with Beverly for a boy?
