      "extremely misinformed about the situation"????
What exactly are we "misinformed" about? Help us understand.

Leno's lack of talent not only single handedly destroyed the 10 o'clock hour on NBC, but destroyed the ratings for everything that followed his disaster of a show. That's why Leno was sh*tcaned at 10. the local affiliates would not stand for Leno destroying the ratings of their late local news, and then after that disgraceful failure, Leno has the nerve to push out Conan after his P-O-S lead-in helped kill Conan's ratings too. Leno is a desperate despicable loser who doesn't have the class to go away quietly after he failed to perform at 10 o'clock.

Leno is being rewarded for failure and has the audacity to pretend he is getting fired. He tries to act like a victim, yet he somehow always gets everything he wants. He'll throw his own mother under the bus to get what he wants.
The fact that Leno's idiot fans see him as a nice guy really confirms the stereotype that they are a bunch of brain dead middle Americans.

The numbers indicate that Leno's audience followed him to 10 and Conan's audience followed him to 11:30. Nothing really changed except that numbers that worked for Leno at 11:30 proved to be a disaster in prime-time.
Did NBC really think that there was so much pent-up demand for talk shows that the market would support what was essentially a four hour block of talk, from 10 to 2? And that somehow both shows would see increased ratings?

I agree with OP! In my opinion NBC should never have taken The Tonight Show from Jay in the first place.

Yeah, I'm more of a Conan fan than a Leno fan, but I'm not mad at Leno. He had the #1 show at 11:30 and they fired him. Now they're coming back asking him to fill the role again. If anything I think Jay should tell them to F off or at least use their crappy bargaining position to leverage a much better deal for himself but I doubt he has the spine to do either. But I'm not mad at him, he liked the job and he wants it back. He doesn't owe Conan anything, Conan is the guy who shoved him out of his job in the first place.

I remember seeing an episode of Conan's Tonight Show and he was disguised as this guy showing older fans his Late Show clips and they hated it, they thought Conan wasn't funny. I think that the older audience that was used to Leno just couldn't get used to Conan's comedy in his skits, they're much suited for a younger audience, which is why younger fans are all supporting Conan. I think it's pretty messed up that people don't blame NBC but instead place sole blame on Leno. He has no control over the scheduling, no control of anything over than his own show. Conan left the Tonight Show and NBC offered the show back. I'm a big fan of both Jay & Conan, it makes me upset that people choose to hate Leno but leave out what NBC did.
It's weird because I remember back in the day, Carson was losing to Arsenio Hall in the ratings and NBC chose to replace Carson, I don't remember it vividly but did anyone blame NBC for replacing Carson?

I think Bill Maher summed it up quite well during an appearance on Larry King's show when he said:
"Conan's a good guy. I'm not crazy about Team CoCo, however. These people need to get a grip. You have no idea how show business works, and it's not all that different from life in general. One guy wanted a job that another guy wanted, and by the way, it's a very desirable job; you want to be on top of the mountain? There's gonna be some other people who want to be there, too. And this idea that Jay Leno is selfish or greedy-"
Larry King: "Well, they say he shouldn't have taken "TTS" back when Conan was only there 7 months."
Bill Maher: "Why? Why is it hisI saw Jay with Oprah the other day; she asked him ten different ways 'are you sorry you ruined Conan's dream?' Why is it Jay Leno's job to be concerned with Conan's dream? When Leonardo DiCaprio gets a script does he say "I'd really like to do this but Jake Gyllenhaal had his heart set on it. Would I be ruining his dream?" I think we've all been in the position where we were in contention for something that somebody else wanted and we didn't go, "well, Bob in accounting wanted it, maybe I should think about him."
Larry King: "So it's NBC's fault."
Bill Maher: "Of course. They made a bloodless, bottom line, dollars and cents decision and one guy got a job and another guy didn't. But the one place I would criticize Conan, and Dave Letterman for that matter is for these comments "you can have anything you want in this world, as long as Jay Leno doesn't want it, too". You're not a kid who got their ice cream knocked to the ground by Jay Leno. He beat you for something because Jay Leno has his finger on the pulse of the American public better than anybody else."
Also, because they didn't have a clue who Jeff Zucker was, or, were even aware of what effect Conan's decisions had on Jay's career, I think most of the haters chose to hang it ALL on Jay. They were just really angry, and needed someone to blame. They should really just read "The War For Late Night" by Bill Carter and find out how badly Jay was treated right from the beginning of this sad saga.

I don't care about any of that stuff, he seems like in real life he could easily be a nice person, but what I care about is if he is funny or entertaining and he fails on both counts. He was the worst late night host by a million miles.
