Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — The Jay Leno Show

I give it 2 years at the most. First off this dude is delusional he lies about lying, he claims stuff isn't true when you can LOOK UP THE FACTS for yourself. Lets see he said NBC "fired him twice" and basically embarassed twice. Well I count 4 at the top of my head.

    1. Lets see once your crazy ass manager bit the dust, and you hid in the closet to get the TTS, they PUBLICLY announced that you were NOT right for the TTS show legacy, and could David Letterman come and save the show, and you be out on your ass.(Only reason it didn't happen because Letterman wasn't going to take the show you basically were killing) However you have no balls so it didn't matter you accepted the job back.
    2. Lets see when Letterman started going head to head he was beating you 90 weeks straight, and you didn't get a real foot ahead for a good 3 years, so your math about being number 1 for so long was wrong. However NBC embarassed you again, by telling you to get your old washed up unfunny ass out in 09, for Obrien.
    3. They gave you a show at 10pm, and thanks to Jeff Zucker who took a 1 network in the 90's to 4th place with his biggest comedy averaging 7 million viewers (The Office) Weekly and his biggest drama that was getting 12 million (SVU) weekly at 10, to placing them at 9 head to head with two popular shows. So you got cancelled. So fired. Then they were going to placate you by moving you to 11:30 for a half hour. So that was ANOTHER embarassment, it didnt happen NOT due to respect for you Leno, but because CONAN REFUSED.
    4. Now you got the TTS back, not because your so great, but because Conan wasn't going for their BS. Like you have. So again another embarassment, and again another firing if O'Brien wouldn't took his payout and heading to FOX.
God what a loser Leno is. Next their going to drop his paycheck on the floor, and watch him bend over to pick it up. While Leno says "Thats what NBC wanted" when video gets out. He is a sad sad old man. I think this is exactly what will happen people will tune in droves to see HIS FIRST NIGHT BACK, then the viewers will drop off bad to getting what he does now. Then NBC will tell him move to 12:30 am or get the hell off, and Leno will go for it screwing Fallon over, and thus The TTS will end. David and Conan will be laughing together, and then David will retire, and pass the torch to Stewert, and be laughing everynight at Leno from one of his houses with his son and girlfriend, or his wife. LMAO.
      He really has no balls.

Wow. How about you LOOK UP THE FACTS for yourself before you state all this crap.

        1. He didn't hide in a closet to get the TTS. The whole episode of him hiding in an office listening in on a conference call occurred AFTER NBC had already picked him. He'd already been hosting for about 6 months. They thought Letterman would be fine staying at Late Night, but when he got an offer from CBS,they panicked. They did offer Letterman the job - at the end of Leno's contract that wouldn't be up for another 2 years. THAT was why Letterman refused. He had an immediate deal with CBS, not 2 years down the road. Leno was never fired.
        2. Leno's first year had no competition. Letterman only beat him for 2 years. Then he trounced Letterman for 14 years straight. I just love how Conan fans want to make 2 years into so much more than 14. He continued to trounce Letterman even with the rest of NBC's schedule going down the tubes. Letterman had some of the most viewed shows as his lead-in and still couldn't get close to Leno.
And yes he "technically" got fired for Conan, even though he was never out of a job. He was still under contract and getting paid all the way until his new Jay Leno Show deal was made.
        3. This again is only a "technical" firing. He wasn't let go. He still was under contract and getting paid. The move to 11:35 was to still keep him. I find it more of an embarrassment to Conan that they didn't value him enough to stay at his time slot.
        4. You don't even make sense here. Another firing if Conan didn't take the payout? If Conan didn't take the payout, he'd be at 12:05 and Leno at 11:35. That was the deal. There was never an outcome where Leno would be gone.

You're so blind its ridiculous were talking about humilation, and Leno DIDNT suffer 4 humilations behind NBC? Puhleese. You're probably one of the few that think she Leno is going to take the world over again. Puhleese he has more bad press then Peyton Manning.

It doesn't matter who you hate or even if you're a troll. You spent that much of your time out of your life to write this whole thing up? What, did mommy lock the basement door?
BTW, Jay has already been fired by NBC twice. You're an idiot.

If they do fire Leno it would cost them 150m to do so which is hardly feasible and most of the people who actually watch TV don't give two beep about the whole situation and continue watching him. You Conan fans took him for granted, busy on the computer all the time you probably have only watched his shows a handful of times. Personally I watch 98%+ of the Jay Leno shows when it aired and not DVRed it, I also watched most of the Tonight Shows with Conan but only watched the monologue and the comedy bit after that then I'd be too sleepy. Personally I think they could have just shown a 30 minute drama / comedy show at 10pm, start the Jay Leno Show at 10:30pm and cancel the news altogether and then air Conan at 11:30.

Well if people wanted to keep both shows. Anyways really I don't think there was any way they could have done it to please ALL parties. Most people took Conan for granted, I on the other hand watched most of his shows but only the monologue and the comedy segment then I'd be too sleepy to watch anymore unless the guest was someone I particularly liked. I watched 99% of the Jay Leno Show episodes too, again I watch both of those two without using the DVR. Besides I don't think Conans target demographic watches much TV anyway most are probably on the computer or playing video games.
