because all comedy has to be leno telling people to say wrong answers to easy questions. It really needs to be that OBVIOUSLY attempted comedy? It can't try a little harder to be a unique kind of funny?

It's PATHETIC segments like that which cause Conan to fall into LAST place behind Letterman AND Nightline and lose MILLIONS of Leno's Tonight show audience!!
Conan is NOT funny and will be in LAST place again if Fox is dumb enough to hire him since Leno, Letterman, AND Nightline will all be ahead of him!! -

The only dumb people here are those who watch Leno. Fox would be very wise to pick up Conan, who is insanely popular with young people and is in many ways the future of late night.
The fact that you got SO disturbed by the Late Night clip of Conan not wearing pants behind his desk proves that you are definitely in Leno's key demographic. If you aren't a 70 year old Christian zealot from the Midwest, you sure do act like one. You are one of the people in that focus group who couldn't handle Conan. That doesn't mean he isn't funny. Now, go back to enjoying Jaywalking, headlines, or any other bland, boring, vanilla-flavored Leno sketch. -

You are one of the people in that focus group who couldn't handle Conan. That doesn't mean he isn't funny.
And you're one of the people in a group who can't take Leno. That doesn't mean he isn't funny either. Why everybody on here, both Conan and Leno fans, think that the opposite opinion equals wrong is beyond me. -

If by "take Leno" you mean I refuse to sit through his boring, insipid brand of "comedy," you're right.
Honestly, there is nothing daring enough about Leno to cause people not to be able to handle him. He's not edgy in the slightest, he panders to the lowest common denominator by pumping out safe, generic humor en masse. -

i think to put it plainly, conan is more "in your face" humour, something you dont have to think about. after a day of school and what more, the younger people want to watch something they don't have to think about. (eg.conan had a skit where a guy would be talking about something infront of a blue screen, then he would hit him with a chair)
leno's humour is something to have to think about. (being up with current events and understanding various points of the news). adult stuff. (eg. political skits, jaywalking)
i believe people who watch leno were also more likely to watch the other drama shows that were on before him when he was on at 11:35. these shows were competeing with him at 10, so his rating fell some. (<20% i believe)
im not entirely sure what happened to conan's audience at 11:35. his ratings dropped 49%. from what i gather from the boards, the younger generation have the choice to watch him online, and are using it. -

Conan gained viewers in a new time slotalbeit only 25%, he was at 1.9 million on Late night, and at 2.5 million on the Tonight show. Leno actually managed to lose viewers despite being in a time slot with 3 times as many people watching tv. Conan had to ingrained himself with a new group of audience, and that takes time, especially for a late night hostand he actually managed progressJay Leno on the other hand managed to go backwards despite things being easier. It's like driving a car that's made to go 50 miles an hour 45 miles an hour, then getting a new car that goes 100 miles an hour and only getting up to 42 miles an hour.

Conan's ratings have collapsed on these reruns of his show which shows that his huge ratings toward the end of his run were NOT his fans but just people tuning in to see a train wreck.
If Conan really got new fans then all these repeats would be getting great ratings since all these new fans never saw those since ratings were low for those shows.
But ALL of Conan's repeats have gotten a rating BELOW 1.0. Sorry Coconuts but Conan is just NOT funny enough for mainstream America.
You can look forward to seeing Conan in a 7-11 parking lot!
