Greetings fans of IT and Stephen King in general!
Like many of you guys, a lot of us King fans from The Dark Tower forum were saddened to hear IMDB's decision to shut down the forum functionality on February 20th - one day after the first trailer of "The Dark Tower" is set to (most likely) debut. Fairly cruel, especially since we've built a nice little community of people over there who enjoy discussing the upcoming "Dark Tower" film positively and constructively - despite a great many negative as well as racist voices flooding the board on a regular basis. Some people had an insurmountable problem with the casting of a dark-skinned actor for the lead role and let their Henry-Bowers-like hate and anger be known by behaving nothing short of heinously, completely uncivilized and out of line. Others didn't like the approach that the filmmakers are taking, which is totally fine when discussed objectively, without personal insults, or wishing physical harm onto the filmmakers. To many of us that is quite obvious, but there's always a fringe group of people that use their accounts to spread hate where they can. It's those people we can thank for IMDB's decision to shut down the forums.
Long story short, a poster that was an extremely outspoken and positive voice on the Dark Tower board, decided to migrate us fans from this board to a new one, specifically created for us left-behind IMDB folks, so those of us who are interested in civilized discourse may continue the conversation without all the goodness that is also part of IMDB coming to a grinding halt. Though created for fans of "The Dark Tower", there is an entire section about "IT" as well, the mini-series, the novel as well as the new 2017 movie. For those of you who do not have a social media account to engage with other fans, it's a brilliant way to stay in touch with each other and keep on discussing the film without all the negativity that surrounds IMDB. We can disagree on many things so long as we can stay civil at the end of the day. The board is moderated and has no place for trolls or racists. Another big upside of the new board is of course, that just maybe, you IT fans might also get sucked into the wonderful world of Stephen King's "The Dark Tower" series (a world IT touches upon in the novel), a journey that might not be for everyone but gave the utmost pleasure to all of us there and other King fans around the world.
Concluding, if you are intersted in joining us there and continue on discussing "IT" to your heart's content after February 20th, do let me know by PM. As some of you may know, I've been rather prolific on the IT board, especially in the early days, and stayed active by reading your comments on a daily basis. I am aware of posters who bashed this movie for no good reason as well as the people who trolled these parts. Those people will not be taken into consideration and contacting me will be pointless. All others, and I know there's a great many of you, are welcome to join our new community. Get in touch.
Books are a uniquely portable magic.
