    She's very intimidating.

Really? I think she feels very forced and awkward. And her line delivery is very stilted. Whenever she shows up I am taken out of the show and reminded that I am watching a TV show.
Sandrine Holt was kind of wooden bit she played the part well. The new lady feels really forced.

So far I love what I'm seeing too. She's a little rough around the edges but hell, she's worked with Jack, he just brings it out of people. She needs to know if this is "Thornton's team" or "Phoenix's team".
She seems to intimidate Riley, I don't think they understand how the other works. She actually has some respect for Bozer (I hate Bozer!) because even though he was scared stiff of her he still came to her with what turned out to be critical information and I'm not sure Thornton would have given him the chance. We found out at the end that she actually has some respect for Jack simply because she knows how he works. And while she doesn't like improvisation (lets face it nobody in the intelligence field does) she sees that it works for Mac and is willing to let him prove that his way is better.
That said I'll remind everyone of the character "Matt Webber" in season 3 episode 12 "Early Retirement" of the old series. (There are only 2 at least recurring character, Riley & Sara Adler, that are not from the old series!)

And that Executive Producer Peter Lenkov has said that they hope to bring Thornton back "soon".

LOL, really? I guess I could kind of see that.
But I don't get how she can be the head of any agency without field experience and you can't tell me they'd let a little person out in the field. Well expect for some un PC answers I could give you (undercover in a circus Godzilla for a Liliputian or Smurf village)

I am a huge Meredith Eaton fan. Her acting is so natural and she showed more versality and layers in one episode then Sandrine Holt did in her entire run on the show. Sandrine was wooden and added nothing - Meredith is dynamic.
In response to the person who made some cracks about her height in regard to field training. You don't have to be in the field doing physical work in order to move up ranks in Government level positions. There's a lot a cerebral work that goes into it, and Meredith is very believable as not only a capable woman but in my opinion comes off just the perfect level of intimidating yet warm and that's not easy to portray.

Come on people. Show some kindness and look at the show for what it is, a comfort show a cut above a comic strip. She's doing a great job in her role. Go with it. Don't be so critical. It's the main reason they are shutting these boards down. Jeez!

Yeah she's tough but fair. I liked Thornton too and thought her replacement would be lame but the chemistry is still amazing with the team.

Exactly the same character she played on Boston Legal.
