Seems like they are toning down Bozer a lot

The one thing I couldn't stand about this show was him. He was so annoying. But the past 2 episodes, they have really toned down his personality a lot. He's not nearly annoying which is helping the show. I hope this continues.

The actor must have blackmail on somebody at CBS to keep getting jobs. He was the lead in that horrible Rush Hour show last year.
The guy cannot act. He isn't funny or charming. And he has zero charisma. Hell he doesn't even have chemistry with the rest of the cast. The actors who play MacGyver, Jack and hottie hacker chick gel together in most of their scenes. Bozer feels tacked on like the token black guy character that he is.

I agree - I tended to mute him when I rewatched. He was so hyper and weird. It was really the token ignorant and clueless best friend. Hopefully they keep him more normal and toned down.

I don't even buy Bozer as the "best friend" though. He has zero chemistry with the guy who plays MacGyver. In fact, every scene he looks like he can barely tolerate Bozer.
Jack is MacGyver's best friend. Who are you closer with? The nerd you used to build tree houses with as a kid, or the guy you are constantly out on dangerous missions with who has saved your life (and you saved his) dozens of times and is basically your big brother figure?

For sure. The whole show is in tune-up mode. Cast change. Subtle alterations to the characters. Less/no flashing words on the screen. This is classic mid season overhaul for a new show.
"I said no camels, that's five camels, can't you count?"
