It seemed too easy

Agreed. My wife and I enjoyed the show but it was way too easy to get Pine in the inner circle. I'm guessing the book went into more about that character. Roper mentions at the end how "Perfect" Pine appeared. There are people like that I guess so it makes it easier but if you're an International Criminal and Arms dealer like Roper you would think you would be smarter than that. Still was enjoyable. A bit like the old Bond films where Bond was basically untouchable and everything worked with little effort.

That kind of unbelievable ease was a big part of the Ben Affleck minority report prequel, Paycheck it's a fun movie, with a similar feel.

But in this kind of movie, it always works like that, doesn't it?? Like, how many times should Bond have been killed already? Poetic license - or the movie equivalent of it!!
I don't normally enjoy this type of stuff but I found this rather enjoyable; probably had a lot to do with the two male leads -
