The gas station scene in Identity Crisis. Patrick McGoohan must be thinking Columbo's a buffoon - which makes it especially satisfying when that buffoon nabs him.

In the art gallery when he thought (pretended to think) the heating grate was a work of art.

Pretty much anytime Vera Miles shows up in "Lovely, but Lethal". Miles is hilarious here. A hoot! I really had no idea she had it in her.
Ruth Gordon is also very funny in "Try and Catch Me", but she's always good.
One bit that comes to mind that makes me laugh is in "Old fashioned Murder", where Celeste Holm's character faints upon hearing the word "homicide". Joyce Van Patten's bright response"
See, I told you! She faints!
Another Joyce Van Patten scene that makes me laugh is in "Double Negative", when she plays a nun at a soup kitchen and mistakes Lt. Columbo for a bum. She shakes her head in dismay. "Oh, that coat. That poor old coat." Hilarious
I'm sure there are others. I like Susan Clark's personality transformation in "Lady in Waiting" when she shows up at the company board meeting in this most inappropriate outfit, decked out in a corduroy pantsuit, in shades of fuchsia and burgundy complete with a train conductor's cap and bill. She's not taking grief from anybody as she turns to her mother and says "in case you haven't noticed it,mother, you're getting old!" Damn! But very funny stuff!

I watched an episode the other day, the one with William Shatner playing a radio talk show host, that had Columbo walk onto the set of a soap opera to talk to a potential suspect. They were shooting a back alley scene with various bums so they assumed he was one of those extras because he blended in with his shabby coat and unkempt appearance.

Thoroughly enjoyed Susan Clark's radical transformation from dowdy wallflower to chic clotheshorse in the Lady in Waiting episode.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.

Columbo trying to get a vital piece of photographic evidence from a busybody landlady who won't stop talking about all the other pictures in her photo album in the season one episode Suitable for Framing. Mary Wickes was hilarious in that small, yet still memorable role.

OMG my favorite scene (can't remember the episode name) was when he took out his wonky glass eye and threw it on the ground to trip up the bungling criminal who was trying to abscond with the jools. Lol and then Columbus also accidentally stepped on his eye when he was going to retrieve it, causing him to fall flat on his back, and his cigar to fly out of his mouth and flip as neat as can be right into his empty eye socket. Then he jumped up and started running around to Benny Hill music with a smoldering cigar jutting from his face as he ran flapping his arms and screaming "HALP ME! HAAAAAAAALP ME!". Oh ho hoooooo, so funny!

Ya know, we get this channel which is repeating back to back to back Columbia eps. every day.
I have been recording a few here and there to watch.
I really want to see the one you describe and will start recording all of them and keep an eye out for it.

I see what you did there

The murderer was an actress and Bumbelo was driving his car onto the movie studio property where they have all those sound stages.
The guard at the gate thought he was bringing in his car for a demolition derby scene and was telling him where to drive to park it with the other stunt vehicles!
                      LOL
