Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Columbo

My personal favorite (and, I was glad to hear, also Peter Falk's). Donald Pleasence OWNED the role of Adrian Carsini and the way he and Falk played off each other was marvelous. DP deserved an Emmy for this episode. It's fun to see Columbo educate himself to outwit the killer, yet gain his genuine respect.
My people skills are fine. It's my tolerance of morons that needs work.

it is a great episode. Donald pleasance is very convincing as the wine lover, and it has some wonderful lines. When he says 'freedom is relative' at the end, it is hilarious.

That's a terrific episode. Donald Pleasence was first-rate as the killer who actually treated Columbo in a polite and respectful manner instead of being condescending towards him.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.

That would be a first. I find Columbo unwatchable. It's more formulaic than even Bewitched, and that takes the cake. Minus the fun magic, of course, and plus the nasty cigar smoke. NO thanks!
