Excellent!
"Étude in Black" (1972) marked the first appearance of the lieutenant's basset hound, named "Dog". "Dog" came to be an occasional regular character in the films. Columbo considered names like "Fido", "Munch" and "Beethoven" but ultimately settled on "Dog". -

Yes. That's one of my favorite episodes, although, most of them are favorites.
John Cassettes and a young Blythe Danner as his wife.
So what's with the last name???

I liked that one. He played the photographer. His wife was a real harpy. I didn't blame him for wanting to get rid of her.
My all time favorite is Swan Song with Johnny Cash as the murderer.
I'll ditch the last name and simply call you Anna…

Yes, that's right, he was a photographer and a clock ended up giving him away in the end.
More trivia.
Patrick McGoohan played a Columbo murderer more times than any other actor – four times. Jack Cassidy and Robert Culp each had three appearances as killers. -

Something like that. Actually, he picked the camera with the negative, in order to prove the way the clock looked reversed. Columbo had set him up. That was clever on Columbo's part… Van Dyke's character really stepped into that one.
I didn't know it was Patrick McGoohan. I always thought it was Jack Cassidy. He and Robert Culp were such fun villains.
The one I felt sorry for was Vivian Leigh. I don't believe she went to jail for what she had done, did she?
Anyway, all of this discussion is making me want to watch a little Columbo.
Later…..

You mean Janet Leigh ~ she was going to die anyway so they didn't prosecute her

Vivian! I could say, Frankly My Dear, I Don't Give A Damn, but I do!
Thanks for the correction.
Yes. Not arresting her was the right thing to do.

I remember that episode well. She didn't even remember killing someone

It was confusing at first because you didn't really know what was going on with her. At first, I thought she was so cold hearted and cool about the whole thing, Later, I felt so sorry for both her and her late husband.

He was!
There were so many great guest stars on that show.
Robert Vaughn, Laurence Harvey, Anne Baxter, Martin Sheen, but no Vivian Leigh.

She died before she got the chance

A shame…
I can just see her in a last scene relying on the kindness of Columbo…
Ok. That's it. I'm in need of some rest. I've become downright silly. Time for bed!
