Only acceptable ending would be that Mr. Anderson is the murderer and the teenage no-faced ninjas are only the imaginations of his paranoid alcoholic mind. I was hoping for this ending, not this "to be continued" crap.

Why the hell would Robert be blamed? Do you know how many cameras are in schools today? They were wearing hoodies for a reason. -_-

Better yet. One of the four killers died of blood loss from Kate smashing his face in. Another died when Robert stabbed him to death. Robert rushes Kate to the hospital in time, and she lives. Robert notifies the police.
Meanwhile, Helen is chased by a third hood, but she remembers she carries a .22 in her purse, and she pulls it out and shoots the surprised hood in the gut. The bullet misses his heart, and tears a hole in his stomach. Helen escapes, letting the hood's stomach acids seep out and eat him alive from the inside.
Helen is reunited with Kate and Robert, and they live happily ever after.
The police rrive and capture the fourth hood. They decide he should pay dearly for what he did, so they ship him off to Shawshank prison, where he is repeatedly raped by the Sister gang.
The hood manages to kill one of the Sisters, but the guards find out and beat him so bad he is paralyzed from the neck down. He is sent off to a sanitarium where he spends the rest of his long life slurping his food through a straw.
Everyone has a hidden agenda. Except me!

One of the worst ideas I've heard in a long time
"We accept the reality of the world with which we are presented."

Better yet: The police turn up and capture one of the assailants, pull back their hood to reveal it was
the caretaker, who would have got away with all the pirate gold buried beneath the school if it hadn't been for those meddling teachers and their mystery-solving hound
                    .
I think the problem is that every other ending (apart from the one I give above, obviously) would have been disappointing - if the hoodies were a delusion this is an ending that has been done before many times (and was the ending I, and a lot of other people if the comments here are anything to go by, was expecting), a more supernatural explanation would have needed a lot more foreshadowing and revealing it was the kid he gave an F to wouldn't have been much of a twist (although this seems to be the ending that the film is pointing too through the newspaper clippings). So I think, given the rest of the film, this is the best ending they could have used, although if a friend had asked me to read through the script prior to shooting I'd have suggested they rewrite it. They'd have been better off making it, for example, a siege film with identified attackers trying to get into the school forcing a small, disparate group to fall back to an area they can fortify, giving a chance to see more character interaction, allowing the father more of an opportunity to redeem himself in the eyes of his daughter (this might make sense after the 2011 riots, with the police spread so thin). They probably went down the wrong path with a stalk 'n' slash film as they've got to keep the characters largely separated so they can be picked off individually - British schools just aren't that big, you'd only be minutes away from a window you could stick a chair through and give it toes, this film would require a vast, maze-like building (bigger than most universities).
