Toby Kebbell and Tim Blake Nelson were bad.
The rest of the cast and special effect are good and the movie captures the body horror really well but the good points end there.
There are unnecessary scenes of Reed and Ben's childhood. The depiction of Ben's brother was all wrong. We have Kate Mara's wig. The way they got their powers was dumb. It made no sense for Sue to get her powers without going with them and felt wrong for Doctor Doom to go instead of her.
It also took too long for them to get their powers. That should have happened during the first 15-25 minutes.
Cutting to a year later was another mistake. Ben's anger to Reed is never resolved. While Miles Teller and Kate Mara are both good actors, they lacked chemistry. Johnny Storm was poorly developed. In fact, the Fantastic Four all appear to hate each other for some reason.
Doctor Doom was just awful and doesn't even show up until the last twenty minutes. He should have been brought back during the first act.
The whole movie was basically a first act expecting a sequel. -

My wife and I liked it, also.
It was more of a background movie (albeit an alternate way that they got their powers).
The only weak spot to us was that they got rid of Doom rather quickly and easily. I was also not pleased with the Doom character.
But, we have it a 7. Nowhere near the 4.3 this movie is rated. I have seen much much worse movies, rated much much higher than 4.3. -

As a movie in itself, to me it's a sub-par but still watchable 4 out of 10, mainly because I think there are a few key scenes that work and there are elements I can appreciate. And you can see some hints of a far more interesting movie at times. Definitely not
quite
the slight against cinema itself some make it out to be, but still objectively a bad film. But it's that behind-the-scenes drama and all the craziness that happened that make it fun to watch for me. It's just so interesting to watch it, dissect it and analyze it, trying to figure out what went wrong, when certain scenes must have been filmed vs what drama was occuring at that time, etc. So I actually kind of like it (or at least like watching it) in perverse and unintentional way. It's just such a fascinating film.
And FURTHERMORE, this is my signature! SERIOUSLY! Did you think I was still talking about my point?
