My purse has my wallet, hand lotion, hand sanitizer, tissues, lip balm, and floss. When I leave the house I throw in my Kindle. I carry my keys but then throw them in when I'm not using them. My phone is either in my back pocket or the front pocket of my purse.

Just don't hook anything up to your car if you're reading smut
You can use a Kindle and use whatever bluetooth speaker or earbuds you have. If you don't want a kindle they have other reading devices but I've only tried kindle. Boox Palma looks good. It's phone sized so easy to just slide in your pocket.
