I was being a bit hyperbolic. But if you look closely at his Hamlet or his Henry V, he is desperately competing with Olivier, and losing badly. He's an earnest, hardworking actor.

Hahaha! He even has the same haircut Olivier had in Henry V.

The acting styles are completely different. Olivier performs Henry V like a living Jesus speaking to his disciples.
Branaugh performs Henry V like, a human being giving an inspirational speech to his fellow soliders.

Here's another. To Be Or Not To Be. If anything is similar is that both actors are Brits.

I didn't say he was imitating Olivier, I said he was competing with him. Henry V and Hamlet were among Olivier's most famus accomplishments (he was knighted largely for this kinfd of acting). I think Branagh aspires to a similar position in the British acting establishment (and has probably achieved it).

                  Proof?
                  Mel Gibson played Hamlet also.

Mel Gibson's Hamlet may be the worst ever made (only Ethan Hawke can compete). I have about ten versions of Hamlet, and Gibson's is almost unwatchable.

Have you read the books? Mankell is a pretty good writer.
However his books on Africa, namely Mozambique, are really good. Comedia Infantil ( its Chronicler of the winds in English ) is very good. Very far from Wallander tho…
Thats it, I’m going to clown college

No, I haven't even heard of him. Only Swede I've read recently is Sven Lindqvist.

Yeah Branagh was good in his small Dunkirk role but he has never impressed me in anything else.
