In my experience, the more religious someone is, the more likely they are to be evil. That's especially true when it comes to Abrahamic religions. This has been observed all throughout history. For example, it was well-known that the most religious slave owners were the most cruel and sadistic.

That’s because being religious gives you a moral carte blanche to dehumanize any people of opposing faith, sexuality, ethnicity etc and treat them accordingly. Nothing has caused more harm on this planet than brainwashed morons believing whatever evil actions they do will send them to heaven.
