Well you did the wrong thing here because all the entire Alien franchise are a collective.

It's just about a monster in space hunting and killing unsuspecting travelers mostly. And a little about how a greedy corporation wanting the alien for research.
Halloween doesn't have much of a story either and when they tried to make a story, people hated it. Jaws doesn't have a story. King Kong didn't have a story. Godzilla doesn't have a story. -

Why don't you stop talking about me and start talking about yourself for a change? You are so hellbent on proving me wrong about you that you've forgotten that you aren't a fan of the franchise at all. You wanna talk about liking movies on their merit but you specifically go on about the actors.

My movies opinion isn't wrong. It's just different from yours which was largely based upon your likeness of Michael Fassbender!
damn that was not great. the new android was lame. after having fassbender this one seemed like a major downgrade. Cool sfx though. The station crashing into the ring was cool
It's right there in your quote–"After having Fassbender" as if Fassbender is what makes alien movies good in your opinion?
you are blinded by nostalgia
alien is a mid ass movie
The first Alien didn't have Fassbender so you thought it wasn't a good movie. Alien is a masterpiece despite its flaws. It was the first to introduce the alien to us and it was pretty ****ing scary. Aliens is second in line. I rank the movies like this.- Alien
- Aliens
- Alien3
- Alien: Romulus
- Alien Resurrection
- Alien vs Predator Requiem
- Alien Covenant
- Prometheus

Prometheus? I can't even take you seriously. That's the movie that is least about the xenomorph. I wasn't alive when The Exorcist, The Omen, and The Shining were released but I can still watch the movie and be terrified and see why they are regarded as critically successful and favorites by horror fans and non horror fans.

I agree with your ranking of the first three. Also your analysis of why the first Alien was so good is accurate. Today's film viewers have no patience, and not enough experience of film to offer a decent analysis. They need to go to film studies' classes.

Thanks however No they don't. We're not taking about Shakespeare or drama. It's horror. Horror doesn't need great actors or fans that have knowledge about film studies..whatever that means? -

It's true that people who "study" film at the uni are mostly pretentious assholes, but at least they are forced to watch a lot of films (including European and Japanese and Chinese films), and this broadens their outlook. People who watch only Hollywood films in an amateur way tend to all think alike. You need some philosophical detachment and some experiential range to say anything useful about anything. -

Speaking of pretentious assholes. You are one of them. The studios don't care whether the audience knows about film. They look at dollar signs. Look at how much money Wolverine vs Deadpool made. You wanna discuss bad movies, that would be the one to discuss. However those that loved that movie have a lot of meaningful things to say about reason they thought it was a great movie. -

Fine. I will make it very simple for you.

I call bullshit on that. Have a good day! -

yes it does. you don't need good actors in a horror movie? how else is it gonna be believable if the acting sucks?
When I watch horror movies, I judge them on
•the story,
•the plot,
•the visual effects,
• technical stuff like the directing
•how much it scared me,
•which horror tropes it used,
•the sound effects and the characters.
•sometimes originality
All the actor has to do is look like they believe the events are happening to them.
I can watch a horror movie not knowing any of the actors, even if it has bad acting and still give it a high rating.
For instance the first 3 of The Evil Dead movies have the worst acting that I've seen in a horror movie so far. But the first movie and the second movie are great horror films.
Train to Busuan is another example. I don't know any of those actors. The zombie actors were amazing though. The other actors weren't giving the best acting by no means but the movie is still in the top 20 of Best Horror movies.
Night of the Living Dead has awful acting in it. But it is still alegend.

you're right
I wasnt expecting that reply from you!
But anyway, since we were judging the synthetic humans in the Alien universe, what did you think about Ash, Bishop and Call? You said that you hated Andy. I liked Andy when he was under the control of Rook. Cuz then he acted like black folks are supposed to behave in a situation where you are trapped on a derelict spaceship with Aliens on it.
He wouldn't open the door for Kay because he knew that's what the alien wanted them to do. I would have done the exact same thing! Fuck that bitch! Lol
He knew how to get the face hugger off of Navarro. He knew the face huggers were heat sensor. It was brilliant.
He was multifaceted–a sweet innocent and vulnerable cyborg–> cold calculating AI–>>hero protector.
