It is not a reasonable stance. Israel is the only solid stable democracy in the region and a steadfast ally. Also God blesses those who bless Israel. This is the only foreign aid I am 100% behind.

Why does god like Israel so much?
He chose them to set an example for the rest of us. He put MORE pressure on them than on anyone else. Other nations were allowed to do as they pleased. They were still held to a standard and still punished for sin but Israel had to walk the straight and narrow or face direct wrath.
But it was more than just setting an example. All of humanity was doomed to hell because of the curse of sin. The price of sin had to be paid in order for God to forgive. Otherwise Justice would not be satisfied. God is just as much Justice as He is Love. All the attributes of God must balance.
In order to do that God had to become human and pay the price Himself. Only one who was without sin could pay the price of those tainted by it. And only God had the power to die, and then raise Himself from the grave.
But in order for that to happen history had to play out in a very explicit way. Trillions of events over thousands of years had to happen just so. Again, only something a being as smart as God could pull off. He chose Israel to be the people thru which He would accomplish this colossal feat.
In the process and in order to make the correct events take place and get the right people to do the right things at the right times promises had to be made. Free will didnt allow Him to just puppet master the whole thing.
It was because they are they chosen people and because promises of protection were made and because so many Israelites such as Abraham, Elijah & David pleased God that He loves them so.
And no.
You cant cut Jesus out because Jesus IS God. His physical avatar. THEY ARE ONE. And because Jesus is the the point. The true answer to the question of life the universe and everything is Jesus. Not 42. Without Him we all go to hell. Eternal destruction along with the rest of this universe.
