The ones with Mel Gibson and Ethan Hawke are too terrible to even contemplate. Kenneth Branagh's version is decent, without being particularly good. Olivier's is very good, though a bit hammy. Nicol Williamson's was one of the best ever. I haven't seen the David Tennant version, but I assume it's good. Derek Jacobi's was hardworking and watchable. The best I've seen is Richard Burton's (filmed) stage version, directed by Gielgud. If they had filmed Paul Scofield's stage version (which toured Russia) it would almost certainly have been the best ever done, but alas, they didn't.

It was (at least) complete, and Branagh is a good populist. But he doesn't really come across as an intellectual to me. You should check out Williamson's to get that vibe!

She was in a gangster movie with Bob Hoskins. Lovely!

It’s time. It’s time for the Jedi to end.
