Yeah, this is an entire process I'm just beginning to learn. To be honest, I didn't want to run for Mayor. The original plan was Councilmember. But I was asked to do it and I said, "no way." I knew I wasn't going to win. There was a plan, basically, a strategy that people put together to change the current structure of the government. They were actively seeking "electable" candidates to run for offices where they wanted their own people in. So, when I was approached, I said I'd be interested in running for City Council if I could get support and mentorship, because this was completely new territory for me.
I met with a Councilwoman who became my mentor, and we began working on 'how to get ready for politics' meetings. There were three council seats going up for election, but four people running. This was going to cause problems, the party knew it, the candidates knew it, and the only solution was if one of us ran for Mayor. So they asked me, and I said, "no way." Then we had a meeting to discuss how to work this campaign, and again, the only option was if one of us ran for Mayor. And no joke, they all looked at me. This was not an easy decision to make. I spent that night on my door steps with a 12 pack of Bud Light and just drank one after another until I ran out and then stumbled to bed. The next day, I woke up and filed my candidacy for Mayor.
My job was just to ruffle up some feathers. Out of 7 Council seats, including the Mayor, our party was the minority. If we could out one person, we got the majority. So, all I had to do was run a hard campaign, and either get elected, or get the three running for Council elected. We, The Slate, ran our strategy that way. It worked. The three got elected, we now hold the majority.
So now, the question is, "what is our next step?" I know I will run again. I just don't know for what office. I want Council. But I'm willing to do Mayor again. But these are things for future discussions with my team and the party. But, thanks for your advice. I will take it into consideration when we plan our future strategy. -

Well anyway, you got what? 2700 votes, that's actually pretty impressive against that old fat career politician and am genuinely impressed. I don't generally say these kinds of things lightly.
Good luck in the future political arena and I think maybe starting out lower may be the best chance you have, councilman country commissioner, hell even Justice of the Peace maybe lol. -

All kidding aside, no my son never tried to contact you via facebook but I did mention your campaign to him since he really does live just south of Novi.
What was the facebook profile or name that you think was him, idc if you post it here or not. I dont worry about that bs anymore and he never worried about it to begin with. -

It was nothing unusual. The standard voter questions. I didn't reply, I normally let my staff handle those types of questions. However, I looked through the profile and he didn't strike me as a Novi voter. Then, the day after the election, he deleted his facebook. Then I read on one of the threads that you asked your son to contact me or something. That's when I thought that might have been him. I can't answer any of your other questions, because the account is gone and I didn't log down all his information.

Really nice job, Bin. I mean that. A few questions,
- Are you open to running for mayor again? Any other political plans?
- I know nothing about Novi. What is the most unique thing about your city/town?
- How did the conversations where you explained message boards to your staff go? Did you inform them about specific trolls, such as the madwoman Alice in Chains?
- How many times did you use the word "salient"? How many times will you in future political endeavors, e.g. debates?
I really can't believe Alice Buffoon was that obsessed with you. What a ****ing idiot.
Stop.

Hey, thanks man. Yes. I will continue running for other offices. The way I see it, I'm just getting started. I'm 37, doing the math, I have at least 30 good years left, 40 total years to my life. I can get a lot done in 30 years. So we'll see how far this goes. I still have an engineering career to think about. So I see myself getting to those crossroads where I have to pick, Politics or Engineering. I can't say which way I will go right now. It's one of those, 'in the moment' type of decisions.
2. Novi has been known as the Retail Hub of the Detroit Metro area. However, retail is dwindling with all these online shops. Therefore, we will have to do an intricate study on what industry we should strive to bring to our city.
3. Truthfully, I hated the conversation. My lawyer, who was also a candidate for another office, discussed our legal options. I told everyone that I didn't know who she was and never met. Which is the truth. I mean, can you know someone who remains anonymous? I did tell them to keep a look out for trolls and to just block/ban/delete messages. I didn't want to go too much into it and people know trolls are trolls and don't really give them a second thought either.
4. Man, I never did, but I will most certainly use it in the future. Hopefully in a speech that will be posted so you can see it and have a laugh at the inside joke.
I can't believe she did that either. I was thinking, before I began the campaign, if anyone would be stupid to do anything like that. I concluded, no. I was WAY wrong about that. -

Bro, honestly I gave all of you guys more credit than I should have. Not that all of you are bad. Clearly, the one's here, aside from a few, are decent people in real life.
The way I saw it, when you all saw my real life, you'd put two and two together and realize that most of the preconceived notions about me were wrong, and you'd all move on. But you're right, some people are really crazy in real life and dangerous.
I also pointed out to her how vile she was when she said that about Sly, especially when she wasn't even on the boards to defend herself.
It's not my case to drop. When she went that far, it was out of my hands. People take election processes very seriously. I mean, it is a serious thing. This is our government. People have taken it upon themselves to find this person and bring charges against her. -

This is how the process went down. And I'm sure this will bring delight to Doodles, because she really hurt me emotionally when she did that. I went into radio silence for two days, only talking to my staff and doing zero campaigning.
I woke up, had a text message of her screenshot on my facebook. The message also read that she's been posting this all over facebook on other peoples pages. This was from one of my staff members.
I had to go on a campaign run, three different meetings to greet and talk to voters. So about this time, 1000 questions were running through my head. Because, honestly, some of the things she was accusing me off, completely baffled me. I texted back, "WTF? Is this really happening? Who is this person, what ****ing evidence, is this a loon or a case of mistaken identity?"
My staff member replied to go do my thing, and she'll take care of this B.S. I thanked her, and got ready.
In the afternoon, this went way out of control. I started getting screenshots of what she was saying to those who supported my campaign, and she was calling VOTERS vile for supporting me. At this point, my staff told me to file a police report. At least that way, there will be a public record of the attack. So, I did just that.
After, I went radio silent, met with only my staff and discussed what we should do. We're in the home stretch, less than a week to election day, this was the last thing I wanted to deal with. I had to move resources to control the damage, when I needed them to do other things. But, like I said earlier, my staff was awesome. I am very surprised at the level of support I was getting.
The last thing I heard, the staff member that brought this to my attention, got a lead of where she was located, and had contacts in London that may be able to identify her. If that happens, I can have the police send the report to the police there, and file harassment charges. We tried to do Libel, but my lawyer said that she cleverly worded her statement just right to make Libel a hard argument. However, harassment is easy, and the UK has laws about cyber harassment, I believe.
I'll keep you all posted if anything happens. But I'm really not sure what will occur. This is all out of my hands.
