My heart sank when I saw who was going to direct it. Just thought I'd give it a go on Netflix. I can see why this might seem like an amiable low budget effort on its own merits but watching the resulting movie in mind of the original screenplay is painful. I couldn't get more than halfway through.
Characterization is almost entirely cut out, comedy lines are lost through poor staging (seriously this guy cannot direct for sh!t) and everything is condensed, simplified, and then painfully faded together. Anyone who enjoyed the concept here should seek out the original screenplay and see what it could have been.
Oh well, at least the scenery was nice.

Isnt that the same as saying the book is better than the movie. All the other posts reckoned the movie was pretty good. I guess they never read the screen play and just judged the movie on its own merit.
