No I dont think you got it. I havent seen the movie since it opened, but I know its definitely not that.
I dont know what people are talking about race. The director himself is a white south african who's lived around the world so he's open to all races or better yet doesnt focus on it, and focuses on his art.
The whole think is about socioeconomic class warfare, I thought it was clear as day as separation by wealth.Blomkamp just picked the actors on quality. Braga has always been good. Wagner Moura is becoming a star of his own in Narcos. Sharlto Copley specifically wanted to play the villain Kruger after usually playing the good guy. The super wealthy have and always been of different ethnicities, caucasians, middle eastern, asian, some african etc.
Watch instead to see the differences in class wealth, and for the futuristic technology. -
