Woefully underrated in my opinion. The pacing was good ,never boring. Acting was decent, aliens were interesting. Fig

I agree, even though it was way outdrawn at some points, it was a spectacular sci-fi movie. I loved the ending.
But then again generally IMDB reverses the score; that is movies below 5 are generally better than those above 8. Take that piece of crap Inception for instance. Now that movie was a joke. -

Are you serious?
It was the biggest steaming pile of beep that's ever graced the silver screen. I was sat in the cinema grieving over my 5.00.
They kept the trailers short by showing one very intriguing moment where thousands of people get sucked up into the ship, it was a blatant lie about the films quality. This film was a shameless lie, I dont think they was even expecting anybody to like it. They are too busy laughing from their deck chairs in Barbados. -

I love this movie! So underrated, you are right! Seems like this is one of those either love it or hate it movies. Definitely seems to be developing somewhat of a cult/underdog status,, though. A lot of people love it despite it being a critical failure.
It's all for you, oh hungry Moon. -

Nobody mentions how good the invasion monsters were! Those creatures hovering in the sky over LA were really menacing and convincing aliens. They scared me. I could imagine that when the aliens finally get here they'll look like these unpleasant creatures. Shame about the script though. There's no story, no characters (beautiful actresses though), no surprises of any kind - except the bad behaviour of the aliens. But it's worth watching for the beastly aliens.

The film had a very expensive and downright misleading advertsing campaign. Specifically, billboard where thousands of people were sucked up into gigantic ships.
It was sold as epic big-budget sci-fi like Independence Day where the action spanned entire continents. Instead what they got was an 'apartment drama'.
Hence, the audience felt like there were bilked for their money. -

I totally agree with you, I was expecting it to be real bad with the reviews and the imdb rating but was pleasantly surprised.
Why there are a few threads stating how bad this movie is beyond me, I have seen way worse movies.
This movie deserves at least a 6 so lets look at it objectively.
1, Acting, The actors/actresses can all act as they have proven in other tv programs and flicks, granted that a lot of the acting scenes have been produced terribly, so that's not the actors/actresses fault (I have seen way worse get better reviews). I would rate this 4.5/10
2, Writing, Nice storyline, a bit different from what we are used too, so its nice to see something 'out of the box'. The script also isn't too bad but it seems as though the actors have been told to stick with it 100%, where as other movies, the actors have been told to go with the flow and say something if u feel it will add realism which has proven to be very effective. 7/10
3, Directing, As much as the story was pretty well told and some left for the imagination, plus the CGI scenes was pretty good. The only thing that let the directing down was some of the acting scenes as stated above and with the acting being one of the biggest parts aside from cgi, let this movie down a lot. 4/10
4, Cinematix, This was very good and made the film enjoyable to watch, especially if you're a scifi fan, not to mention some of the scenes was astounding for the budget, 8.5/10
5, Over all feel, Although some of the acting could have been produced better and reshot, the rest of the film was pretty good and the storyline is something different to the usual scifi flicks we watch. I await the second part to this trilogy as much as I do ID2&3. 8/10
In total imho this movie is at least 6.4/10
If the production was slightly better, then this movie should be at least a 7 based on A class movies. If I was to rate this move for B class then I would definitely give this a 9/10.
There are very few movies I can watch past the first viewing but this alongside other decent scifi flicks, I have watched over 4 times.
I only registered on imdb to post this
as this movie does not deserve the negativity it is receiving. -

The bad reviews made me steer clear of Skyline, but one bored evening on Netflix I decided to give it a go and to my surprise.. it was awesome! Yeah, the characters are mostly flimsy and annoying, there's barely a story there, but when the action starts Holy Christ!!.. The aliens in this movie are completely badass, looking amazing (in a perverse kinda way) and wreak havoc virtually non-stop. It's like the videogame Crysis came to life except there's no hero. The movies' conclusion is utterly bizarre. but in a good way. The ultimate popcorn movie.
