Sorry to say but there was no one better then Blake Lively, Blake Lively was fantastic, her acting the way she talked the way she did everything was just fantastic, i also like the movies Natalie played in but sorry to say Blake Lively was perfect for this movie.

Natalie Portman is probably my favourite actress but I think Blake was the perfect choice. I think she had a face that works better with every decade. She looked like she belonged no matter when it was suppose to take place. I'm not sure if Portman has that look.

I agree, Portman is a great actress (far better than Blake) and she would make this predictable movie a lot more interesting. Blake although beautiful, had a flat acting, and should have been much more expressive.

Before watching the movie if you have asked me who is a better actress I would have take it as a joke but Blake Lively was magnificent in this movie. I was quite surprised tbh. She came a long way since GG
Portman is good and all but Blake should have been the first choice anyway.
She has this ageless look and made the character believable and sympathetic.
Come to think of it you need a whole bottle of luck in this business. Good thing Portman refused it. -

I must say Blake did a very good job. I kind of hated her in the Green Lantern movie and I hadn't seen her in anything else so I wasn't expecting much from her but she did quite nicely. I was pleasantly surprised.
Natalie would've done an excellent job too. I think this is the kind of role that suits her. -

I really liked Blake Lively in this role, far more than I expected. I didn't think she was necessarily a good enough actress for a role of this maturity, as I had always found her to be kind of unsure of herself on-screen and in a movie like this she would have to play the role with the self-assurance of a much older woman. However, she was great!
Portman might have also been great, or not. I think she'd kind of stopped trying tbh. She got her Oscar so now she thinks there's no need to work too hard anymore. I love some of her earlier performances but I'm glad they chose Lively for this role. -

I would have disliked Natalie Portman in this film. Especially her voice which I find irritating.
Blake Lively reminded me of a young Lauren Bacall or a 1940s actress. If you haven't watched the movie, why would you think it would have been better with Natalie Portman just because she was originally in talks for it? So was Katherine Heigel. I can't even imagine what a shlockfest that would have been with her in the starring role.
I think Blake Lively was the perfect person to play Adaline.
